WHAT YOU SEE
Picture a clock face, but with 100 numbers instead of 12. From each number, draw a line to that number multiplied by...something. Point 3 with a multiplier of 2 would connect to point 6. Use the same multiplier, point 51 connects to 102. But there is no 102, so it wraps back around to point 2. The same way 13:00 becomes 1:00 on a clock.
This wrapping is where the patterns come from. Lines following the same simple rule bunch up in certain places and avoid others. They trace out curves that nobody drew. Multiplying by 2 makes a heart shape. Multiplying by 3 makes a kidney shape. Higher numbers weave stranger and more intricate forms. One rule, applied everywhere, and structure appears. The curves are a consequence of arithmetic made visible.
